Wontons are not just for wonton soup! They can make a delicious dim sum snack. These ones are fried so very indulgent but great as an appetizer for a party. These are easy to make and you can make ahead and freeze them and the cook from frozen (whether in a soup) or fried crispy. Delicious served with sweet chilli sauce.

Ingredients
  • Minced pork - 150g / 0.33lb
  • Minced prawn - 150g / 0.33lb
  • Spring onion - 1 large, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp, grated
  • Low sodium light soy sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Rice wine - 1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil - 1 tsp
  • Cornflour - 2 tsp
  • Ground white pepper - a pinch
  • Wonton wrapper - 18
  • Groundnut oil - For deep frying
For the garnish
  • Coriander -
To serve
  • Sweet chilli sauce -

Steps

  • Heat the oil to 180C
  • Mix all the ingredients, except for the wonton wrappers into a bowl and mix well. Put one heaped teaspoon of filling in the centre of each wonton wrapper. Brush a little water along the edges of each wrapper, then gather the corners into the centre and press to seal.
  • Cook in the hot oil for around 3 – 4 minutes or until golden and bubbled. Serve with sweet chilli sauce and fresh coriander.
