Want to enjoy some more CHING’S AMAZING ASIA? Stay tuned on Monday 8th February for the second episode, on straight after the premiere, at 9.30pm on Food Network UK and Asian Food Channel. This episode, “Clever and Inventive Taiwanese”, is in my home city, Taipei! I visit James’ Kitchen, an inventive home-style restaurant bringing a unique spin to Taiwanese cuisine. It was great to cook with Head Chef Ching Wen Cheng! Next I head to Shin Yeh a 38 year-old Taiwan Institution, founded by Madame Lee Xiu Ying with over 178 dishes on the menu. Lan Jia Gua Bao is considered by many to be one of the best snack joints in Taipei and I drop in to meet Mr. Lan who has 20 years of experience making the famous Taiwan hamburger - “Gua Bao” or “Tiger Bites Pig”. Taipei is baking hot in the summer, just the excuse I need to visit Ice Monster for some gigantic fluffy avalanches of shaved ice to cool off! Finally, I check out Hao Chi a local hangout famous for their “Danzai Noodles” a shrimpy porky ramen like dish. Will be back next Monday 15th for two more episodes! I really hope you enjoy it!
