Bulging with delicacies and culinary treats, a festive hamper is the perfect present for your foodie friends and family. It's so exciting to forage through the beautifully wrapped basket uncovering a whole host of different ingredients, culinary oddities and luscious treats. I was lucky enough to be sent a beautiful hamper from Fortnum and Mason this year. My "go to" for adding a touch of special luxury to Christmas entertaining. Here are a few of my favourite items. The Fortnum & Mason's Bucks Fizz Orange Marmalade Medium Cut. This will have you singing and dancing every time you enjoy it! It's zesty and punchy, perfect slathered generously on some hot croissants on Christmas day or over some freshly baked hot cross buns. This is the best marmalade I have ever had! https://www.fortnumandmason.com/products/new-buck-s-fizz-marmalade?taxon_id=484 The Fortnum & Mason's Mulled Wine Jelly with Gold Leaf Mulled wine jelly will set off your Christmas Dinner and have everyone talking. Mulled wine jelly with edible gold leaf, will bring a sparkle to your Turkey and some glamour to your sprouts and parsnips. Not only will it look beautiful on the plate, it tastes beautiful too. https://www.fortnumandmason.com/products/mulled-wine-gold-leaf-preserve-340g?taxon_id=484 The Fortnum & Mason's mustard is a fabulous approach to classic mustard. It's zesty, bright and rich with hints of spice and port. It's perfect and super delicious with cold cut meats like ham and leftover turkey, or a spread on sandwiches. I actually made the ultimate luxurious potato salad with it, just mix with equally copious amounts of mayonnaise and generous dollops of this fine mustard. https://www.fortnumandmason.com/products/christmas-mustard?taxon_id=484 And the Fortnum & Mason's Spiced Chocolate bar? Creamy and spicy with a good snap, enjoyed every bite! Best enjoyed on its own with a cup of delicious Earl grey tea. https://www.fortnumandmason.com/products/new-christmas-spiced-chocolate-bar-75g Fortnum & Mason have some wonderful hampers on offer this year and you can purchase your very own from the Fortnum & Mason website: https://www.fortnumandmason.com/t/categories/hampers/all. Harvey Nichols have a very stylish selection for Christmas 2015. I love browsing the food hall on a quiet afternoon and the Foodmarket Feast hamper is a wonderful way of exploring the best of what is on offer. An eclectic mix of treats from around the world, there is English tea, preserves, Turkish delight, Italian biscuits and Spanish oil. At £150, this would be a real treat for any lucky recipient. http://www.harveynichols.com/gifts-hampers/2038182-foodmarket-feast/#sthash.qP7bzbl9.dpufI know hampers can be expensive so how about creating your own bespoke hamper? You can pick up a wicker basket from most garden centres, add some crepe paper and coloured cellophane and you already have an impressive looking gift. Now for the fun part, filling it up! To be honest, I've never found the perfect Chinese hamper so definitely worth making your own. I fill it with some key ingredients such as Sichuan Peppercorns, Shaoxing Rice Wine, Soy Sauce, Sesame Oil, my own 5 spice powder and some bottles of Chinese beer as an added treat. How about some chop sticks and a bamboo steamer too? And to finish off? Well, a copy of Eat Clean: Wok Yourself to Health, of course! The hardest part is not keeping the hamper for yourself! Enjoy!
