Eat better, lose weight, exercise more, cut out alcohol, laugh more, stress less, de-clutter, be more creative... Aghh, I am already breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about it. Year after year I drown under the weight of too many new year resolutions. This year is going to be different! I’ve scrapped the endless list of self-improvement and instead, decided to embrace just one change at a time. Something realistic and achievable that will give me a well deserved glow when I manage to actually keep the promise. I am always putting myself under pressure to be the best that I can be but not everything can be achieved just because it is January! Often it is a life-style change that we need to invest in for the long haul, so let’s not rush it. If your resolution is to eat better in 2016, then start by focusing on one key area to start with. This could be cutting out caffeine, drinking more water or only eating one chocolate bar a week. Once you have achieved this one small but significant goal, you can move on to the next already feeling like you have succeeded. Often caught in the need to make physical adjustments to my life, I also want to spend some time spiritually rebalancing. It is important to cut out the relentless cycle of noise and stress that surrounds us all in our daily lives and spend some time connecting with ourselves and listening to our own instincts. We all need to find time to be at peace with ourselves. For more inspiration, I enjoy reading Thict Nhat Hanh.
