Who’s off to see the fireworks tonight or at the weekend? London plays host to lots of great displays. From the extravagant and legendary fireworks festival at Alexandra Palace with its panoramic views of London, spectacular display, ice rink, funfair and laser show to the simplicity of Coram Field where you can enjoy a fun evening of fireworks, simple hot food stalls and refreshments. There is something for everyone. Hopefully the weather will be kind and we won’t be cowering under our umbrellas! If you are looking for a tasty and zingy soup to keep you warm throughout the night, then why not try my Spicy Hot and Sour Soup? This is one of my favourite Sichuan dishes! The soup is full of the best crunchy Chinese ingredients, designed to enhance the kou-gan (textural mouth-feel), inherently important in Chinese cooking. The bamboo shoots, the woodear mushrooms, preserved Sichuan vegetables and the silken like texture of the tofu together with the salty, spicy, sour layers makes this dish tantalize your taste-buds! Perfect for this time of the year and to turn this into a meal - add some thin rice noodles or egg noodles. Have a great time and stay safe! Love, Ching x
