Winter Solstice; the shortest day and the longest night. At least that means the days will start to get longer again and it will be summer before we know it :-) It is also an important festival for the Chinese, known as the D?ngzhì Festival. The longer daylight hours bring an increase in positive energy flow and families come together to celebrate. Traditionally, we eat sweet or savoury tang yuan dumplings and Bige - taiwanese chicken rice. Although not a classic, dumplings are also good for this ocassion. My Sui Mai offers one of favourite flavour combinations, I love my Pork and prawn dumplings. These open-wrapped steamed pork and prawn dumplings are a wonderful dim sum snack and great to serve at a dinner party as a started with some chilli or soy dipping sauces.
