A very Happy 90th Birthday to the Queen who will be celebrating her official birthday tomorrow, Sat 11th June. To celebrate such a wonderful achievement, I wanted to share an equally decadent and jubilant dish for us all to enjoy and opted for my “Dragon prawn” noodles. Lobster in Mandarin Chinese is ‘Long-xia’, which translates as ‘dragon prawn’. Dragons to the Chinese are the king of animals (although they are a mythical creature) and the lobster is the king of the prawns. I love to use yellow bean sauce, which adds a wonderful ‘umami’ and bouillon stock-like flavour, and couple with the natural sweetness of the Lobster makes this dish really moreish and simply irresistible. It is also traditional to eat long noodles on your birthday to signify a long life. A dish fit for a Queen. The full recipe is in Chinese Food Made Easy. What an inspirational woman!
