Ching attended the Lucky Rice Festival in New York - a festival that has a huge appetite for Asian-style cuisine and culture. They work with hundreds of chefs and restaurants and culinary partners to bring the best of Asian culinary culture found in the US and abroad. This year Ching represented the Cooking Channel and hosted the Talk and Taste cooking demonstrations held at the Astor centre. Ching was joined by Angelo Sosa for Malaysian Kitchen, Jennifer Maeng for Korean Food Foundation and Ming Tsai of East West and Blue Ginger. Octopus Bombay Sapphire cocktail at The Grand Feast, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, NYC With Ming Tsai and Susur Lee after Taste + Talk demo at Astor Centre As part of the Asia House Festival of Asian Literature in London, Ching launched her latest recipe book in a talk and taste demonstration where she shared a selection of quick and healthy recipes from her new book, Ching's Fast Food. Over 60 people attended this intimate talk and lunch on a sunny with food sponsored by The Royal China Group and beers sponsored by Tsingdao. Goodie bags included delicious teas and tea storage boxes from Chinalife and a box of Ching's signature chopsticks (sponsored by Rayware, which will be available in department stores later in the year). All the proceeds went to supporting Asia House and money was raised to support Japan. Over their 12-year history, the Asian Women of Achievement Awards have recognised and provided a platform for an exciting generation of Asian female groundbreakers - such as comedy actress Nina Wadia; civil rights activist Shami Chakrabarti; and the first Asian woman to lead a FTSE 250 business, Ruby McGregor-Smith. Ching was honoured to have been shortlisted for the awards and attended the stunning event whose main sponsor if Lloyds Bank. The event was held at London Hilton on Park Lane. So many highly regarded women attended the event - congratulations to all the winners! The awards were founded by Pinky Lilani. Pinky Lilani is a woman with a big heart, an inspirational figure who gives support and confidence to all women and connects them with unconditional love and kindness. Cooking channel fans in the U.S. will be delighted to hear that Ching started filming her first American series for this exciting channel this month. Shooting in the San Francisco and surrounding Bay area began with Ching (with wok in hand) visiting farmers, foodies, markets and restaurants in this colourful city.
