It may be September but there is still a lovely warmth in the air and it feels like we are still hanging on to the last of the summer. There are some great seasonal ingredients just coming in including fresh cranberries, pears, damson plums, leeks and sweetcorn. It’s also the start of the British apple season and whether you pick them from your own apple tree or have an orchard nearby, there is plenty to go around. The humble apple is brimming with high-quality nutrients and provides a good source of vitamin C and pectin. Their low glycemic index rating means they will release energy slowly over the day.
