Apples

2015-10-08 11:03:13|Food

The apple tree in my back garden is literally weighed down with delicious apples at this time of year. With British apple season hitting around end of September through to November, there is an abundance of fruit to enjoy. If you don’t have an apple tree nearby, there are many commercial and public orchards that are happy for you to come pick your own. Take the apple, twist it gently and if the stalk comes away easily from the tree, it’s ready! They are also very easy to store. Wrap each apple in newspaper and store in a cool, dark, airy room in a shallow cardboard box. Or, stew with a little sugar which you can then freeze and use over the coming months. Would love to hear any ideas you may have to use up your home grown apples! With the humble apple brimming with high-quality nutrients and providing a good source of vitamin C and pectin, they are clean and light way to start the day. I have a great Anti-ageing, flu-fighting, organic supergreen 10 juice in my cookbook Eat Clean: Wok Yourself to Health http://bit.ly/eatcleanbook or how about my Winter flavour-burst fruits with home-made cinnamon granola and almond milk [recipe here]. The low glycemic index rating means they will release energy slowly over the day. Happy eating! Love, Ching x
