A Great Start to the Year of the Snake!

Wow - a great start to the Chinese New Year, I've been lucky enough to celebrate with so many lovely friends. It all started just before Chinese New Year with the lovely ladies at women's business club, The Sorority. We toasted the new year with exotic cocktails! See the video here. Chinese New Year's Eve started with a visit to James Martin at BBC's Saturday Kitchen - see below - we had a great time and I cooked Sticky Belly Pork and Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaves - delicious and quick to prepare, which was good because it was then straight over to see the lovely guys at Harrods. The Harrods team were so welcoming and did a super job looking after not just me, but all the lovely people who came to see my cooking demonstration (see below) - many of whom left with a copy of my Exploring China book too. Chinese New Year was an early start - but what better way to spend it than with the guys at Sunday Brunch (pics below) - we had a fun morning with no cutting! Chinese superstition says that cutting with a knife on Chinese New Year cuts your luck for the year ahead... I made pearl balls - pork balls rolled in sticky rice - the sticky rice is good luck as it means you'll 'stick' with friends and family for years to come. And I had a very lucky morning as I met fellow guest Lemar!   Then it was a delicious dinner with my Cantonese 'father', the wonderful Ken Hom - this was a truly celebratory dinner at the sumptious Michelin-starred Kai Mayfair. Then, back to work - do the headphones suit me (below)?! I did some fun Chinese New Year radio interviews in the studio for Kikkoman Soy Sauce. And finally, I was treated to some wonderful hospitality by the lovely Dawn Page (below), director of Hong Kong Tourism Board at a lovely celebratory event they were holding for partners and associates. The rest of the Year of the Snake is looking busy too... although maybe not as many parties as the last two weeks! Lots of love and luck for the year ahead. x
